The 2020 CSLP Summer Reading theme is Imagine Your Story! Explore the worlds of fairy and folk tales, or explore history, biography, genealogy and your own personal stories as you continue to grow and change.
The possibilities are infinite, so let your curiosity fly free! Learn new things, dream big dreams, or just settle down for a good story of adventure, mystery, romance or spine chilling thrills.
Libraries may use the materials and follow the CSLP theme or create their own Summer Reading program.
To help public libraries deliver a Summer Reading program that follows social distancing guidelines, the Arkansas State Library will provide statewide access to READsquared. READsquared is an online platform for reading programs.
An online platform allows public libraries to offer digital activities and incentives during the Summer Reading program for patrons of all ages. READsquared provides the ability for Summer Reading participants to:
- Register for an account;
- Create a personal avatar;
- Log progress towards reading goals;
- Take on the challenge of missions or games;
- Receive invitations to online library events; and
- Keep in touch with library staff.
READsquared can be used on a personal computer or a smartphone or tablet. READsquared is made available to public libraries for one year through funding provided by the CARES Act.
Summer Reading participants without access to the required devices or Internet, can still participate through the traditional paper logs and turn those in to library staff while following any social distancing guidelines issued in their community. The paper materials are provided to public libraries through funding from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS).
